Each month, at Naimuri, we’re celebrating and exploring one of our company values. Following on from Collaboration month in May; June was Integrity month. Here’s a round-up of what we got up to:
Training/Games
This month’s training games were Integrity ball, and a scenario based Q&A session, where a situation was framed and “what would you do” was asked to the group. Everyone answered on their phones (using a great webapp called polleverywhere) and then a discussion was had about the responses. There were no right or wrong answers, and listening to everyone’s viewpoints highlighted just how subjective integrity can be.
Insights
We published an insight on the importance of integrity, and how such a personal trait can help guide a business. It’s an interesting topic and this thought-provoking insight is well worth a read.
Podcast
We recorded an internal podcast discussing what integrity means at Naimuri, and why it matters. Everything works better when there’s honesty, openness and trust!
Value of the Month Award
Congratulations to Aida M. for winning this month’s award. Doing the right thing even when no-one is watching is a trait we should all aspire to have.
What We Learned
Honesty is the best policy. But full on transparency isn’t always the right thing to do – there’s a fine line, for example, between giving helpful feedback, and overloading someone with feedback at the wrong level, which can discourage and dishearten. Being cognisant of how other people will take that feedback is as important as giving it.
Integrity is an Active Thing
There isn’t (usually) a single correct answer – but standing by and being passive, or ignoring problems (usually) doesn’t help. If in doubt speak to others and see what they’d do.
What We Say We Would Do…
…and what we would actually do, often differ. Integrity is being honest with yourself as much as with others.
Personal Integrity
Integrity at Naimuri isn’t just “do what’s right for the business”, it’s also ensuring you do what’s right for yourself – for example, being honest with those around you and speaking up if you’re overburdened, rather than burning yourself out.
During July we’ll be focussing on another of our company values: Caring, so keep a look out for updates on what we’re getting up to.
