It’s not every day you’re invited to witness history.
At the recent North West Regional Defence and Security Cluster (NWRDSC) event at BAE Systems, we watched the Chairman officially sign the Armed Forces Covenant, a proud moment for Naimuri as a steering group member.
For me, an ex-Royal Air Force veteran, this event was doubly special.
Stepping up as an Armed Forces Champion for the NWRDSC felt less like a work event and more like a "coming home" moment (albeit with better canapés!).
It was an honour to represent the Cluster to the North West Reserve Forces’ & Cadets’ Association (NW RFCA).
The RFCA is the backbone of the region’s volunteer forces, managing everything from estate infrastructure to fostering employer support for reservists.
Our goal is to ensure the North West remains one of the most Forces-friendly regions in the UK.
Our 5 key pledges
The NWRDSC is committed to making the North West the most Forces-friendly region in the country through these core pillars:
- Championing the Ecosystem: Encouraging partners and SMEs to adopt Forces-friendly policies.
- Skills Pathways: Improving access to training and education for service leavers and their families.
- Inclusive Innovation: Ensuring veteran-led SMEs have a seat at the table in defence growth.
- Visibility & Recognition: Celebrating the contribution of the Armed Forces community across our region.
- Leadership & Accountability: Appointing dedicated Champions to ensure these aren't just words, but actions.
We aren't just showing up; we are ensuring that real-world problems meet cutting-edge solutions by empowering those who have served.
