It was fantastic to celebrate the first birthday of the Northwest Regional Defence and Security Cluster (NWRDSC).

At Naimuri, we're proud to contribute to the government's vision for defence as an engine for growth, fostering innovation across the UK.

The NWRDSC strengthens the UK's defence and security by uniting universities, tech companies and government partners.

Some of the key takeaways from the event included…

  • Funding on the horizon: Awaiting crucial funds to drive initiatives.
  • Supporting our heroes: Commitment to reservists & veterans through the Armed Forces Covenant.
  • Northern powerhouse: Significant £1.5bn investment in the North.
  • Defence investment plan (DIP): Expected late 2025/early 2026.
  • Bridging industry and defence: Opportunities for in-career breaks and secondment

It's clear that Regional Defence and Security Clusters (RDSCs) like the NWRDSC will serve as a primary channel for the Ministry of Defence (MOD) to share their challenges and requirements, giving members of these clusters an early opportunity to understand and prepare their responses.

The NWRDSC achieves its goals by:

  • Fuelling innovation: Connecting academic research with industry needs.
  • Solving real-world problems: Translating insights into national security solutions.
  • Building future talent: Training the next generation of skilled professionals.

Naimuri supports these objectives by:

  • Sharing insights: Contributing perspectives on the evolving defence landscape.
  • Delivering trustworthy AI: Developing ethical and reliable AI solutions.
  • Supporting academic collaboration: Bridging research with practical defence needs.
  • Delivering real-world impact: Helping to make the UK safer.
