James McIntosh is a FrontEnd Developer at Naimuri and has been with the business for six years. He shares a little insight into his role and what made him choose a career in technology.
What attracted you to come and work at Naimuri?
The opportunities.
How did you find the recruitment process?
I kind of slipped in through the back door, but the tester tech test was interesting.
Briefly describe what you do day-to-day…
I work with customers and the rest of the team to design and deliver accessible and intuitive user experiences.
What interested you about a career in technology?
I was always interested in computers and problem solving and tech fits that perfectly.
What areas of tech are you most interested in?
Personally I'm a big fan of smart tech and VR. Professionally it's purely javascript.
What are the top five skills you need to do your job?
What’s the best thing about working at Naimuri?
The people. Almost everyone here is dedicated and actively try to make the company and the working environment better.
What makes Naimuri different from other tech companies?
Our work focuses on delivering benefits to the users rather than trying to make money.
We regularly feedback the cases where we've seen our systems and services help the UK as a whole.
What are your career aspirations?
I'm still early in my career, but I see myself becoming an expert in user driven design, UX solutions, accessibility and frontend development practices.
What advice would you give to someone considering a career in technology?
Keep your eye on the ball. Things change rapidly in this space and if you're not watching carefully, you can find yourself missing out on the progress that's being made.
What would you say to someone who is interested in applying for a job at Naimuri?
Whether it's your first job or you've been in the industry a while, Naimuri is a company that will welcome you and help you grow. I've not worked anywhere that I've enjoyed as much as here.
